Cooling center open at Salvation Army tonight; list of others during day
Doors at La Crosse shelter open between 7-10 p.m.
A cooling center at the La Crosse Salvation Army is open tonight for those looking to escape from the menacing heat that will hang over the city through tomorrow.
The shelter (223 N 8th Street) will provide bedding, showers and water.
It’s meant especially for those who don’t have access to a cooled environment and those with health issues.
Doors will be open between 7-10 p.m.
The heat index could reach as high as 115 today and slightly less Friday.
So, a number of daytime cooling centers will also be open in La Crosse County.
