Fundraising comes in a variety in 32nd district

Kapanke ahead of Shilling in contributions by $30,000

The 32nd state senate district race this year in Wisconsin seems to have a rich variety of stories based just on fundraising reports alone.

The campaign finance reports show Republican Dan Kapanke outraising incumbent Democratic Senator Jennifer Shilling so far this year by over $30,000.

And, Kapanke has raised well more than that in individual contributions, though that’s been nearly all of the funds he’s reported so far.

Not the case for Shilling.

While the current Senate minority leader has raised nearly $50,000 in individual contributions, she’s collected $25,000 from various committees.

Meanwhile, Shilling’s primary opponent, La Farge, Wis., native Jared Landry has raised about $5,000, including a $1 donation – all written down and reported to the state on two sheets of notebook paper.

Rep. John Sarnowski reports raising nothing, while independent Chip DeNure only has the $5,000 he’s loaned to his own campaign.
