Red Cross making emergency call for blood

Group must collect 14,000 donations a day to keep pace

The American Red Cross has issued an emergency call for blood. 

Blood is going out faster than it’s coming in. Supply is extremely low and all eligible donors are urged to give.

Rick Roseneck with the Red Cross says its seeing 40,000 fewer donations nationwide and the struggle to keep up with demand is never ending.

“On average, the Red Cross has to collected 14,000 blood donations every day for patients at hospitals,” Roseneck said. “That’s why it’s always an ongoing thing.”
