She’s accused of hiding heroin in her vagina that led to the overdose of another inmate.

On July 12, staff was alerted to an unresponsive female within the La Crosse County jail. Staff had to revive April Sordahl with Narcan.

Sordahl was uncooperative and said it was “on her.”  It took the promise of a physical exam before 30-year-old Danielle Hesselberg was convinced to dig the plastic baggie out and hand it over to police.

An anonymous source told investigators that Hesselberg always had drugs on her behind bars and had seen her hide remove them from her vagina and ingest them with Sordahl. The informant also said Hesselberg always comes to jail with drugs stashed inside of her.

Upon an examination, three bags were discovered inside her. A golf ball sized bag of heroin weighed 22.7 grams. Another 19.3-gram bagged tested positive for heroin. And, a smaller, 1.6-gram baggie tested positive for methamphetamine.

Hesselberg is charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of meth. She faces a maximum of 28 years in prison.
