One dead, another wounded in Winona drive-by shooting

Suspect’s car was traced back to nearby apartments

One shot dead, another wounded during a drive-by outside a bar in Winona around 1 a.m. Wednesday. 

Police apprehended 49-year-old Rickey Darnell Waiters at a Third St. apartment, because the car used in the shooting was parked outside.

Apparently, Waiters approached the bar around closing time, talked with some people. Left. Then, a short time later, returned, doing the drive-by.

A 53-year-old man, Robert Charles Johnson of Winona, died after being shot in the torso.   Sean Patrick O’Brien of Winona was shot in the leg. 

Waiters is charged with second-degree murder and assault.
