UPDATE: No arrests yet from Friday’s bomb threat in Spring Grove

Authorities were looking for explosive device in car

The investigation continues into a reported bomb in a vehicle on Friday afternoon in Spring Grove. 

Multiple agencies were called in to check out a vehicle with an apparent explosive device inside it.

The downtown business district was evacuated and scene secured, but no such device was found. The suspect vehicle was cleared with no explosives located.

The town was givine the all clear around 8:30 p.m. so people could return to their homes.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Dept. said the event was an isolated incident and no threat to public safety remains.

No arrests, however, have been made and the investigation will continue.

Numerous agencies responded to assist including the Spring Grove Fire Dept., the Winona County Emergency Response Team, the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office, the Rochester Police Dept., the St. Paul Police Dept. Bomb Squad, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation.

An emergency in Spring Grove has ended with police apparently finding 
no bomb after reports of a bomb threat. 

Authorities had searched a suspicious vehicle that was parked in downtown Spring Grove.

The evacuation of the downtown area ended around 8:30 p.m., after a bomb squad and a robot unit had been called in to search a vehicle. 

Initially, it was thought that someone may have been in that vehicle with an explosive device. 

EARLIER REPORT:

A bomb threat appears to be the reason Spring Grove, Minn., is on lockdown right now. 

Apparently a business was held up in town and a bomb threat made, according to witnesses. The bomb squad was also called. 

At 2:55 p.m. Houston County Emergency Management said, “All Houston County government buildings are now closed and on lock down status until further notice.

Public is not allowed inside until further notice.” Several buildings and homes off Main St. were first evacuated and then word is that evacuation was expanded to cover more area.
