Lots of celebrities have hit the campaign trail this summer to support Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for president.

One, on the campaign trail for Clinton, stopped in La Crosse on Tuesday.

Actor Sean Astin, who played Samwise in the Lord of the Rings movies – or Rudy in Rudy or Mikey in Goonies – spoke to Clinton supporters at the La Crosse Coordinated Campaign Office on Fifth Ave.

Astin called Republican nominee Donald Trump “clumsy” and “offensive,” while he says he trusts Hillary Clinton and compares her to a PTA mom.

Astin has known Clinton for more than 20 years, and he says the stakes are high in this year’s campaign between Clinton and Trump.

“It’s like no other,” Astin said. “There’s a whole new level of excitment that’s been brought in because of Donald Trump, and I think people are starting to wake up to the fact that it is a very very dangerous moment.”
