Houston County voters oust Schuldt in District 3

Reasoning may be becuase he stopped
proposed ban on frac-sand mining

Feelings from the frac sand fight might still be lingering in Houston County.

Tuesday’s primary appears to be an indication of that after board member Steve Schuldt finished fourth in a five-way race. He got just 13 percent of the vote.

Schuldt was one of three county supervisors who stopped a proposed ban on sand mining in Houston County last year, upsetting many opponents of that practice. He was also criticized for raising taxes.

The county board will actually have two new members after the fall election. Bruce Bulman and Scott Connor will compete for the 3rd District seat now held by Schuldt.

Running for the open 5th district seat will be Dan Griffin and Fred Arnold.
