Group has helped over 5,000
families that have sick children

Five families from the area were honored at a Children’s Miracle Network fundraising kickoff event Wednesday at Copeland Park.

The Children’s Miracle Network is designed to help families with sick children, who often spend weeks, months or years in the hospital with their issues.

That takes money. Heather Gilles, head of the local chapter, says you know what you’re donating to when you hand the money over.

“Zero dollars come out for any administrative costs,” she said. “So, when somebody donates $25, that entire $25 goes to the program.”

Last year, the group helped over 5,000 families, many in Wisconsin.
