Officer finds piece of flesh under overturned stool

Details are still being sorted out, but a bar fight at the Old Style Inn over the weekend left one man with his nose bitten off.

A La Crosse police officer found a piece of flesh under an overturned stool he thought might be Jesse Stringer’s nose early Sunday morning, according to the report.

Over 10 people were apparently involved in the brawl.

The aftermath left pools of blood on the floor and more splattered on the walls. Tables and chairs were overturned.

The witnesses that did talk, said people were throwing stools and using pool cues in the fight.

Stringer, himself, after police finally did catch up to him, said a woman had “disrespected” him while at the bar and he told her to “(bleep) off.”

That’s when a man punched Stringer in the face. Stringer picked the man up, threw him to the ground and jumped on top of him, according to his statement to police.

Lying on top of him, the unnamed man bit his nose off. Stringer tried prying the man’s teeth off his face. He then bit his fingers and also, apparently, bit his left nipple.

Stringer, apparently from Chicago though he also had a La Crosse address in the report, was leaving the bar when police stopped him, as his face was bleeding profusely.

An officer shined his light on the 29-year-old’s face and informed him his nose was missing and down to the cartilage.

Stringer was taken to the hospital but, after some time, left without being discharged.

Police tracked him down to a home on South Avenue around 8 a.m. Sunday. A piece of gauze on his face, they were insistent he go back to the hospital.

Backing away from police outside the home, Stringer was telling them he was the victim but didn’t want to press charges. He then took off inside the house, slamming the door on an officer’s arm.

Police got in shortly thereafter and Stringer gave himself up and was taken back to the hospital, where he remains, pending charges of obstruction, resisting, disorderly and probation violations.
