Crews putting in hard labor, but Bliss Rd. repairs on schedule
The 60-foot excavator isn’t long enough to reach washout
Still looking at Friday for the end of construction work on Bliss Rd. in La Crosse.
The city’s assistant public works director, Bob Haines, said that today, a day after the road to Grandad Bluff was closed for a variety of repairs.
The contractors have a 60-foot, long-reach excavator on the road to move some rock down to washed out areas. Haines, however, says it’s taking that and some hand work from WisCorps to get it done.
“They’re reaching the full 60 feet and dropping it but it’s not rolling as good as we hoped to get down to the eroded areas,” Haines said. “That’s where the WisCorp guys come in and help get it exactly where it needs to go.”
While the road is closed for erosion repairs, crews will also do some tree cutting and crack filling.
The road is closed to all traffic: cars, bikes and pedestrians.
