That “castle” on Cass could have a new use very soon. A bed and breakfast.

Neighbors, however – mainly, the castle is next door owned by Rob and Diane Reinhart – are already concerned. They’re worried about parking – there are five off-street spots and two inside the garage – partying, property value and traffic.

The Reinharts are asking for a 30-day delay because they only found out about the B&B plan a short time ago.

Bruce Banes is one of the developers and he answered the worries at a city planning commission meeting Monday.

“We’re very quiet. We dont have any plans to have anything very noticeable from the street,” he said.

The commission approved the idea proposed by the two Houston, Tex., buyers – Banes and Brandon Rigger – voting unanimously on Monday evening for the house, which was built in built in 1892 and located at 1419 Cass St.. It’s listed on Zillow for $995,000.

“I can’t think of a better use,” local realtor Nancy Gerrard said. “There’s maintenance that’s required here. If it isn’t a big family, then who else is it going to be?”

The project moves on to the city judiciary committee tonight.

The 7,322-square-foot house features eight bedrooms. The top floor used to be a ballroom, but was remodeled in 1920.
