State still up $15.1 billion from last year

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin collected about $85 million less in taxes than earlier projected for the fiscal year that ended on June 30.

The state Department of Revenue released preliminary tax collection numbers Thursday for the recently completed fiscal year. Collections were 0.6 percent below the amount estimated in January.

Even though it didn’t hit projections, the nearly $15.1 billion collected was up 3.8 percent from the year before.

The latest figures only account for tax collections and not any differences
