One dead in motorcycle crash on interstate at La Crosse

Speed may have been a factor

One woman has died after a motorcycle accident closed I-90 near exit 3 Friday night.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the 51-year-old woman was thrown from the motorcycle when it went out of control and slid off the highway.

The woman apparently hit a sign post when she was thrown from the motorcycle.

A 42-year-old man who was driving also sustained injuries in the accident.  

Police are still investigating but say excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Identities have not been released but both are from Minnesota.   

The crash closed I-90 for several hours Friday night.
