Heavy rains cause flooding, more rain expected
Mudslides shut down lanes in Crawford and Vernon counties
A flash flood warning continues into this afternoon for Vernon and Crawford counties. La Crosse, Jackson, Monroe and Trempealeau counties flash flood warnings expired Wed. morning.
The 2-4 inches of rain that fell overnight is just the first what’s expected to be heavy rainfall in the area over the next few days. Storm totals could reach 7 inches or more in some areas.
Flooding and mudslides have been reported throughout the area. One mudslide closed a lane of traffic on Hwy. 35 in Crawford County. Another shut down a lane near De Soto, Wis.
Several more inches of rain could fall through Thursday and a flash flood watch remains for most of the area through Thursday night.
As of 10:30 a.m., Hwy 108 from Cty. DE to Cty. T was closed in La Crosse County due to flooding.
