Mapleleaf parade route, spot-saving crackdown underway
No camping until after midnight Friday
It’s time to start thinking about staking your spot along the parade route for the Maple Leaf Oktoberfest parade in La Crosse on Saturday.
Around 100,000 are expected to attend the event.
In recent years, the city has cracked down on early campers and that’s the plan again this year.
In general, don’t put anything in the boulevard or right of way before midnight Friday – No tents, no chairs, no sleeping bags, no port-a-potties. Not even a sign that says, “This spot is mine.”
Street crews will toss your stuff in the back of a truck and haul it away, and police can write you a $124 ticket for trying to grab your parade viewing spot.
