MTU waiving fees today in city

If you can’t find a way to get to the polls today, there could be a free ride to be had.

Dozens of individuals, groups, agencies and businesses form a large network around Wisconsin are offering free rides to the polls.

Some areas are better covered than others, according to a list put together by Common Cause in Wisconsin. Some places you can get a free ride by taxi to the polls and in others the buses are free for the day. La Crosse is like that.

The MTU is waiving bus fees for the day. The only other voter transportation assistance in the area is around Viroqua, Wis., where 27 volunteer drivers working with the county aging unit are helping to get those in need to polling places today.
