Mayor Tim Kabat to announce today he’s running for re-election in April
Last two-term mayor came back in 2001
La Crosse’s mayor has been hinting since summer that he’s probably going to run for re-election in April.
Today, Tim Kabat will make his plans official during a news conference at Myrick Park.
Kabat headed Downtown Mainstreet, Inc., and worked in the city planning office before he was elected mayor in 2013.
If he were to win in the spring, Kabat would become La Crosse’s first two-term mayor since John Medinger won re-election in 2001.
Mark Johnsrud lost his bid for a second term in 2009 and successor Matt Harter chose to serve just one term.
