Minnesota Senator Miller named deputy leader
Republicans hold a 34-33 advantage in MN Senate
With Minnesota Republicans now controlling the Senate, Winona’s Jeremy Miller has even more power, after being named a deputy leader on Wednesday.
“I will have the opportunity to provide input on the priorities of the Senate,” Miller said. “I think right now those priorities must include lowering health care, as well as working toward a long-term transportation plan here in Minnesota.”
Sen. Michelle Benson, R-Ham Lake, was also named to the position.
Since the elections, Republicans gained a 34-33 advantage in the Minnesota Senate.
“It’s a very slim majority so it’s going to continue to force members of the Senate to work together,” Miller said.
Miller had been the ranking member of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee in his previous term.
