Trump, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson appear as allies in dismantling EPA
Johnson believes EPA costs households $14,800 a year
As a president, Donald Trump may look to dismantle the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In doing so, Trump appears to have an ally in Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson.
Johnson says the EPA isn’t very good at weighing costs versus benefits of certain environmental regulations.
“I think we do need to kind of rein in the EPA,” Johnson said. “It’s a pretty abusive agency in many respects.
As a candidate, Trump called what the EPA does, “a disgrace.”
Johnson agrees with Trump on the need to cut back on the EPA regulation of clean water and air in the nation.
“We all want a clean environment,” Johnson said. “We all say that we need some regulations – whether it’s related to our environment or workers’ safety.
“It’s that we need to avoid those over-regulations that does burden our economy to $14,800 per household per year.”
Along with Trump’s talks of dismantling the EPA, he also plans to immediately do away with the controversial Clean Power Plan that two dozen states have sued the feds over.
