Winona State officials warn of date-rape drug
Can cause nausea, memory loss, seizures and aggressive behavior
Winona State University is responding to reports of date rape drugs being used at off-campus parties.
There have not been any criminal reports filed.
The drug can cause nausea, memory loss, seizures and aggressive behavior.
Andrea Northam with the college says that a preemptive warning was sent out to all students.
“Just about being aware of your surroundings and being aware of where you’re going,” she said, adding to observe your drink, stay with friends, know how you’re getting home and know how your friends are getting home.
Northam says the school does not tolerate sexual misconduct and wants to make sure all students are in a safe environment. The email gives a list of organizations that students can talk to, that are not mandated to report incidents to administrators.
