New basketball club possible for La Crosse Center

Team would be called “La Crosse Showtime”

Is it time for minor-league basketball to return to the La Crosse Center?

This week, the Center board will talk this week about possibly hosting a new franchise of the American Basketball Association, as soon as next fall.

Earlier this year, La Crosse was passed over for an NBA D-League team. 

The ABA has granted a franchise called the “Showtime” to Scott Pooler, a staffer with the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District. 

If the Center reaches a deal with Pooler, the Showtime would be the first semi-pro basketball team based at the arena since the CBA Bobcats, which folded in 2001.
