New basketball club possible for La Crosse Center
Team would be called “La Crosse Showtime”
Is it time for minor-league basketball to return to the La Crosse Center?
This week, the Center board will talk this week about possibly hosting a new franchise of the American Basketball Association, as soon as next fall.
Earlier this year, La Crosse was passed over for an NBA D-League team.
The ABA has granted a franchise called the “Showtime” to Scott Pooler, a staffer with the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District.
If the Center reaches a deal with Pooler, the Showtime would be the first semi-pro basketball team based at the arena since the CBA Bobcats, which folded in 2001.
