Regents to discuss 2% raises for university staff
UW-L chancellor believes state loses talent because of low pay
At it’s meeting this Thursday, the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents will discuss a proposed pay raise of 2 percent for university employees in both 2017 and 2018.
Joe Gow, the UW-La Crosse Chancellor says it’s about time.
“I only wish it could be a little more,” Gow said. “People have done a great job and have not had a (raise) in a long time.”
The raises should help universities in the state compete for talent.
“We are in a position where we are losing very talented faculty and staff to other institutions in other states, particularly Iowa and Minnesota, because they pay more competitively,” Gow said.
