La Crosse brings in $59,000 in parking violations in November
Downtown parking ramps at $80,995 for 2016
La Crosse police wrote around 3,800 alternate-side parking tickets last month.
The city brought in $59,000 in parking violations for November. It’s those tickets that account for about a third of all parking revenue collected in La Crosse in 2016.
The city could come close to its projected goal of around $1.7 million in parking money for the year.
The goal in the downtown parking ramps was to bring in $131,000.
So far, after a $10,052 November at the pay stations, the city comes in at $80,995.
The original estimate didn’t, however, take into account the five-month period where the parking gates were removed, while city leaders tried to figure out how to improve the gate system.
The improvements came in turning the parking gate machines back on, changing over to pine gates and raising the hourly rates a quarter to $1 an hour.
Through all that, the city hired a parking utility coordinator, as well.
