Copeland Park rink open now

One more night of really cold weather could do the trick.

The skating rink for Rotary Lights in Riverside Park is now expected to open Thursday, a day behind schedule.

Jared Flick with the La Crosse parks dept. says there’s still not quite enough ice at the rink to make it ideal for skating.

The unusually warm weather through the start of December has delayed the start of outdoor skating at Rotary Lights and at Poage Park.

Flick says Poage Park is now scheduled to open its skating rink this Friday at noon. There are also skates there free to rent. All three rinks are free.

HOURS
Poage Park:
M-F 4-8 p.m.; Sat-Sun Noon-8 p.m. (skate rentals free).
Copeland Park: No staff, open skate. Park rec. staff ask to come in afternoon.
Riverside Park: No staff, open skate, during park hours (closes 10 p.m.).
