Electoral College casts its votes Monday for president
One elector started website to keep faith in system
Wisconsin has 10 votes that are still pivotal in the presidential election.
Electors cast their votes for president Monday and there has been plenty of pressure for Republicans to change their pledged for Donald Trump.
That’s why Brian Fairbrother, an Electoral College member in Michigan, has started a website devoted to helping those electors keep the faith.
“I think Donald Trump earned the right to be president” Fairbrother said. “And, at this point, we as members of the Electoral College should elect Donald.”
In the history of the United States, there have been 157 so-called faithless electors who have changed or withheld their votes for either president or vice president. Never has the act altered the outcome of an election.
“I’m getting emails constantly saying that Donald Trump didn’t win the popular vote,” Fairbrother said. “However, that’s not the way we determine our president.”
Congress tallies the electoral votes January 6.
