Two men busted having sex in La Crosse alley say they were discriminated against

Both refused to answer questions about their activity before being charged.

Two men thought having oral sex in the alley off Pearl Street in downtown La Crosse was perfectly OK.

It was going down after 2 a.m. Friday, when a La Crosse police officer caught the 24- and 48-year-old men going at it.

Both refused to answer any questions. And, after they were charged with lewd and lascivious conduct, one man told the officer they were being discriminated against because they were gay.

The officer disagreed and said the behavior was unacceptable no matter who it was.

I agree it would be illegal if the same act was performed by male/female couple. But do you think an officer would have arrested them and charged the girl with lewd and lascivious conduct? Or would the cop have said, “You guys shouldn’t be doing that. Now get outta here before I arrest you (secretly wanting to give the guy a high-five because he relates with him and sorta wishes he was still young and doing crazy shit like that).” But the same officer who walks up on two guys is disgusted, overly aggressive and demeaning, and immediately arrests them, and charges them with a crime that classifies them as sex offenders. C’mon people, this one isn’t too hard to imagine. Of course a police officer is going to treat the two differently.

This isn’t discrimination, it’s slut shaming. 2 consenting adults performing sexual acts in a downtown alley at 2 am and this is newsworthy? I haven’t heard the term “going at it” since grade school, I would think the term having sexual relations is more politically correct.
