La Crosse city council member to announce resignation

Ryan Cornett leaving council to focus on new job in Baldwin’s office.

Ryan Cornett will make his resignation from the La Crosse city council official at midnight Thursday.

Cornett will be accepting a position with U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldin’s team.

He tells us the new job won’t afford him the time to serve effectively on the city council.

Cornett, currently the north side’s 3rd district rep, is the only candidate on the ballot in the 2nd district for April.

With a likely win, the next city council will likely either appoint someone to the seat or call for a special election.
