U-W-L didn’t get a new stadium, 41 years ago

Author Tom Wolfe spoke at U-W-L in early ’76. Wolfe said recent events in history, such as the Vietnam War, would make good topics for books. Wolfe had not yet written some of his most famous books, including “The Right Stuff.”
La Crosse’s top FM station at the time, LA-93, was sold to Family Radio and renamed Z-93. The station started out as WWLA, and played beautiful music until switching to a Top 40 format in 1974.
