Newly constructed Gundersen Hotel to open in summer

City block had to be demolished to make way for parking lot.

Another new hotel is getting ready to come on line in La Crosse.

The new Gundersen Hotel and Suites, next to the medical center, is expected to open around July and is accepting reservations for after September 1.

To accommodate parking for the hotel, Gundersen had to get approval from the La Crosse city council to demolish a city block.

Premier Hotel Properties will operate the 67-room hotel. It is one of five new hotels that have opened in or around the downtown La Crosse area in the last couple years.  

Along with the 67 rooms will be 16 extended-stay suites. There will also be a 100-foot underground tunnel connecting the hotel to the Gundersen Founders Building.
