Man surprised police show, after he shot roommate’s beagle with pellet gun
29-year-old faces animal cruelty citation
A man who shot a beagle with a pellet gun last week has been cited for animal cruelty.
Friday, La Crosse police responded for a complaint at a residence on 5th Ave.
The owners said former roommate Brandon Stearns, who they had kicked out Tuesday, shot their dog with a pellet gun.
Stearns and the owner’s boyfriend were in the living room, when Stearns pointed his 9mm pellet gun at the beagle named Remington. He then fired three or four times.
When confronted, Stearns said he was just making sure it was unloaded.
He reportedly was surprised police were there.
The pellet was found in the dog’s back a few days later. The 29-year-old reportedly said he had no issues with the dog, who will be OK.
