It’s been nearly a year, a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student has had to keep a secret.

Now, however, she can finally tell her friends the big news. Betsy Katschke can finally say, she and her family was on Family Feud with Steve Harvey.

The senior won a regional audition in Milwaukee back in 2015 and was invited to film in Atlanta last July – a secret she had to keep until now, though she still can’t tell you how she did.

“There are only a handful of people that knew we even went to Atlanta,” she said. “Having to keep that a secret, oh man, it’s been tough.”

“It is absolutely mind blowing,” Katschke said of the experience. “You’re on the stage. Your name is up behind you. It’s so cool.”

Katschke said the tapings per episode take about two hours, but the content is whittled down to just 30 minutes with commercials.

“They’ll be breaks in between rounds where then he’ll tell stand up to the audience,” she said.

The game, itself, was also not quite like what you end up seeing.

“You’ll have to start over and do a completely different question, if nobody gets an answer right –  if right away, you get the three Xs,” Katschke explained. “So it’s just really interesting, that additional aspect.”

She also mentioned you have to be overly energetic to be chosen for the show.

I also act as the voice of local sports, doing play by play of high school and college football and basketball. When not working I enjoy golfing.
