Troyanek begins 21st year on school board

Board president and two others were sworn in Monday.

Sworn in Monday night, Connie Troyanek will begin her 21st year on the La Crosse school board.

It will be the school board president’s seventh term, while Dave Rudolph and newly elected Laurie Cooper Stoll also took the oath of office.

“We’ve gone from starting computers in the schools to, now every child has their own,” Troyanek said. “We used to be radio, for our school board. Now, we’re livestreamed.

To watch the schools grow is exciting.”

Now, the battle begins – the battle for school funding.

“We never have enough,” Troyanek said. “We always have to do more with less. 

“This year, hopefully we will get some of the money back that was taken from us a couple years ago. Our staff always do what’s needed to be done.”

Born in Decorah Iowa. I've been a news reporter for the last 10 years, starting right out of college in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
