Facebook post about Columbine gets La Crosse teen in trouble
Central student said he didn’t really plan an attack
A social media post seeming to threaten “a re-enactment of Columbine” at a La Crosse high school gets the attention of police.
The Facebook post appeared Monday and said “Don’t be surprised if you see a re-enactment of Columbine tomorrow,” meaning Tuesday.
City police spoke to the 17-year-old Central student Tanthalas Cox-Witt, who posted the message. He claimed to be was angry but did not actually plan to attack a school.
Cox-Witt has pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct,and received a warning in court from Judge Todd Bjerke.
He could get time in the county jail, if he’s convicted.
The teen said he had a rough day at school, and was involved with arguments over the prom, before writing the message mentioning the 1999 Columbine school shooting.
