Fire departments in the U.S. and Canada are better prepared for pet rescue thanks to a huge donation.

The Invisible Fence organization donated 18,000 pet oxygen masks through Project Breathe Program across North America, including the Campbell Fire Dept.

With the masks, things will be a lot easier, says Campbell fire chief Nate Melby.

“We’ve been on some emergency scenes where we’ve had pets – cats or dogs – that we’ve needed to provide medical treatment for,” he said. “We’ve been providing that treatment with the same types of equipment that we would provide for humans.”

The masks came in three different sizes, along with instructions on how to provide CPR on different animals.
