Meeting tonight on spending $200,000 to fix short stretch of Losey Blvd.
Residents in area have said vibrations of trucks has damaged their homes.
The fight over whether to spend money to fix a short stretch of one of La Crosse’s busiest streets is back.
Tonight, a city council committee reconsiders a proposal to use $200,000 of city reserves to do an emergency fix of a section of Losey Blvd. between State Rd. and Johnson St.
Some members at that time called the money grab from the city’s reserves, the absolute worst way to go about fixing the city’s roads.
Neighbors, however, have begged for relief from the constant pounding and vibrations that are rattling their houses as big trucks go over damaged areas of Losey – vibrations that have led to structural damage of their homes, apparently.
Last month, the city council voted to put off deciding on the plan with one former member calling the money grab, “Chicago style politics.”
A full repair of the street has been put off for a few years in order to make way for other projects.
