Winona YMCA building nearly sold
Funds will help buy new facility near Winona Health.
The Winona YMCA appears to be closer to selling its building.
The Y has been working on a deal to sell its place at 207 Winona St. for more than a year but has run into problems with the city’s zoning plans for the area where the current facility sits.
Funds from the sale are supposed to help pay for a new facility next to Winona Health.
The Y announced an agreement with Partners in Excellence to buy the building – no price was disclosed. The organization is an autism treatment center that currently has offices in La Crosse and the Twin Cities.
The sale is contingent on a couple of issues, including zoning, but the treatment facility appears to fall within the city’s proposed zoning changes for the area.
