The 21st year of fundraiser is bringing smiles to De Soto boy rebounding from cancer

He’s finally cancer free after six round of chemotherapy dating back to September.

A bump on 12-year-old Drake Kumlin’s groin turned out to be the worst – stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Seventh months and a lot of chemotherapy later, however, the boy is cancer free.

“It’s in remission now. his chemo ended in February,” his mother Lenay said, noting he went through six rounds of chemo, which lasted 5-7 days in the hospital each time. “He’s clear of cancer at this point.”

And, at this point, the De Soto, Wis., boy is looking forward to a big Saturday with 95.7 The Rock’s event, Big Bikes for Little Tikes.

The 100-mile ride and fundraiser through the Coulee Region is to help make a wish from Kumlin come true – a basketball court so he can hoop it up with his friends.

And that’s what Big Bikes for Little Tikes hopes to accomplish. The ride ends at the Onalaska American Legion with prizes, live music, food and drinks.

Tickets are $25 or $30 on Saturday, which includes a t-shirt, motorcycle kickplate, brats, chips and the post-ride party. All the proceeds go to that basketball court. Sign up here.
