At least in modern history,” Walker said of Trump.

GALESVILLE, Wis. — Talking with media after meeting with elementary school students in Galesville, Scott Walker talked everything from budget to the president Monday.

The Wisconsin Gov. said he’s been impressed with the President Donald Trump’s first few months in office.

“Actions speak louder than words, so I know a lot of the national media attention is on the words or the tweets used by the president,” Walker said. “It’s a good start. Expecting there’s going to be more.

“He’s got a good cabinet. Arguably one of the best. At least in modern history.”

Walker added that the Trump administration helping with the crisis with Canada over tariffs on milk, as well as rolling back regulations for businesses, have been major highlights.

Walker went on to talk about the battle in Wisconsin on how best to fund roadways in the state. He believes a deal is getting closer than most are led to believe but there’s still one thing he won’t consider from the legislature

“We didn’t get elected in 2010 and re-elected to raise taxes,” Walker said. “We’ve said we’re willing to work with them on ways to make some adjustments that don’t increase the tax on fuel.

“But, to me, the gas tax increase, for something like, that is a non-starter.”

Walker added that he would veto the entire budget if it included a property tax increase, as well.
