Father-son high-speed chase; man who sniped mother; woman gets 5th dui.

A Monroe County man is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday for shooting his mother with a rifle.

Two years ago, Cody Kraabel of Ontario hid in the loft of a horse barn with a rifle and waited for his mother to show up so he could shoot her.  

Kraabel was convicted in March of reckless endangerment, for the sniper-style shooting in 2015 of Terri Keepers.

Keepers was treated for her wound. Kraabel claimed he wounded his mother because he had to ask her permission to use farm equipment and get hay for his horses.

A Bangor woman is facing her fifth drunk-driving charge, along with accusations of drug crimes after an arrest in La Crosse County.  

Officers suspect 49-year-old Sandra Levit of possessing cocaine and illegal prescription drugs, as well as driving drunk.

Levit has criminal charges from six Wisconsin counties on her record over the last five years. Many of those charges were for speeding on the interstate.

It’s taking longer than planned to determine whether a La Crosse man is competent to be tried for threatening police during a December standoff.  

Attorneys in the Daniel Lexvold case still do not know when doctors will be available to testify about his mental condition.  

Judge Elliott Levine says he wants a hearing as soon as possible.

Lexvold was shot and wounded by two area law officers while advancing toward them with a logging chain during a confrontation near Hwy. 16.  The case has gotten national media coverage.

A 47-year-old La Crosse man remains in jail after a chase and a drug arrest, but his adult son has been released.

Bond was set at $10,000 for Larry D. Baldwin, arrested on Monday night with his 21-year-old son, Larry A. Baldwin.

Police received a tip that both Larry Baldwin, Jr., and Sr., were rolling around the city with a pile of drugs in the car.

Cops located the car and made a traffic stop. K9 officer Luc sniffed some drugs but the pair took off and led police on a chase down Lang Dr., past Menards and into Schuh Homes, where police used spike strips to stop the SUV.

Police say the two were arrested without struggle.  

They found 64 grams of crack cocaine from the vehicle and $1,400 in cash.  

Larry Baldwin Sr. was charged with cocaine possession and fleeing an officer. His son may face just one drug charge.
