Busting drug house in La Crosse, officer gets stuck with used needle

The officer was picking up other items when stuck with needle.

Executing a search warrant on La Crosse on Wed. night, not only did police find over 100 needles thrown about the residence. 

One officer, also found themselves stuck by a needle, while picking up another item.

The officer was treated and now has to follow protocol to address the possible exposure to diseases the needle may have contained.

The findings, after a month-long investigation, was that Megan McCarthy was selling drugs out of the 1016 Jackson St. home.

Police found 8.4 grams of heroin, .7 grams of meth, several prescription drugs and a taser. Police say the heroin amounts to over $4,000.

Both McCarthy and Dedrick Portis, a Jacksonville, Fla., native were arrested. 

McCarthy, charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of meth, possession of an electronic weapon and possesson of a controlled substance.

Portis was charged with possession of narcotics.
