Group to help end homeless in La Crosse growing
Thursday, committee agreed to spend $75k over 3 years on effort.
The fight to end homelessness in La Crosse hasn’t gotten any smaller.
“It’s growing to the fact that now we need infrastructure and now we need a paid position to help run the show here locally,” La Crosse city council member Jackie Marcou said.
The new position, that will likely get funded by La Crosse’s city hall, won’t actually be a city job.
Marcou has proposed a plan for the city to help fund a new project manager working through the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness in conjunction with Catholic Charities.
“Catholic charities will house that position and the funds will be matched by the La Crosse Community Foundation,” she said.
Thursday, the city council finance committee agreed to spend $75,000 over the next three years on the effort. The La Crosse Community Foundation will pay the rest.
As it’s name suggests, the organization is looking to end homelessness in the city.
