Medical examiner looking into death of former youth hockey coach

Local law enforcement agencies confirm that a La Crosse man recently facing criminal charges has died. 

Robert Mattingley reportedly died in La Crosse on Tuesday, a day after appearing in court on new charges. 

The county medical examiner is investigating the cause of death. 

Mattingley was arrested a few weeks ago on charges of child enticement, as part of an internet sex sting operation. 

Mattingley, a former president of River City Youth Hockey, was jailed again last weekend, on firearm and false imprisonment charges related to an alleged threat against his wife two years ago.  

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
