WWI solider statue in the works for city of La Crosse

Korean War monument at Veterans Park was very popular.  

A monument to local veterans of the Korean War has become so popular that another one will be installed to honor vets who served in World War I.

A life-size statue of a First World War soldier would stand on a three-foot-high pedestal. The fiberglass statue is being made by an advertising company in Sparta.

It could be ready for dedication by Veterans Day in November.

The statue would be displayed at the Veterans Park area of West Copeland Park in La Crosse.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
