Narrowing of Clinton St. to add bike lanes put on hold
Meeting at 5:30 p.m. tonight on project
A somewhat controversial road project scheduled for the north side of La Crosse has been put on hold for now.
The narrowing of Clinton St. was scheduled to happen today but has been delayed due to issues, like conflicts with Exit 3 construction.
The street was going to be narrowed from four lanes to three and bike lanes were to be added.
At 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, north side city council rep. Andrea Richmond will hold a meeting about the project, which was approved as part of a bicycle and pedestrian master plan back in 2012.
“I was not aware that there were even bike lanes gonna be added to this project,” Richmond said. “Evidentaly, that went through from what I heard this morning, from someone else that was planned all along.
“There’s a lot of controversy, and I thought it was important to have a quick meeting tonight … to iron out some of the questions people have.”
