$5 million in state funding passes hurdle for $42 million La Crosse Center renovation

Process could begin in Aug. 2018 

By this time next year, the La Crosse Center will be under construction again as a possible $42-million renovation begins.

Five of those million could come from the state, which took a big step closer to being secured.

Center board president Brent Smith told board members Monday that the $5 million request was passed intact by the Wisconsin Legislature’s joint finance committee.

Smith says the full legislature could pass the budget in the next two weeks and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker may sign it the week of September 18.
