Over 2,000 hospitals were judged

For the fifth time in 19 years, Gundersen Health System has been named “Most Wired” by the Hospitals and Health Networks Magazine.

The survey analyzes how health care providers use IT to improve patient performance.

Over 2,000 hospitals were judged on IT infrastructure, clinical quality and safety, along with clinical integration.

Chief information officer Rose Ann Laureto explains some of the ways using technology helps patients.

“We have various technologies that help our patients kind of actually see into their own lab results, radiology indications, and communicate directly, through email communications, with their providers,” she said.

Laureto added that “It’s impossible to have a discussion anymore about strategies, strategic initiatives, without understanding what kind of technology is out there that can support strategy.”

Born in Decorah Iowa. I've been a news reporter for the last 10 years, starting right out of college in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Other professional opportunities led me to Marshalltown, Iowa and Antigo Wisconsin, before I finally was afforded the opportunity here in La Crosse. I've been here since 2016. I also act as the voice of local sports, doing play by play of high school and college football and basketball. When not working I enjoy golfing.
