Aidan Myhre is 12, has only looked for medallions for a couple of years

This year’s medallion finder for Oktoberfest is a young searcher.

Twelve-year-old Aidan Myhre of Onalaska was helping his step-dad look for the medallion on Friday at Chad Erickson Park, near the Trane Company offices in La Crosse.

Aidan says he saw a shiny object on the ground, and didn’t know it was the prize from the treasure hunt.

He thought it might be a wrapper of some kind.

Stepfather Tyler Clements says he has hunted for the Fest medallion for about 10 years.

Tyler says clues about parks, Trane, and Ward Avenue led him and Aidan to the medallion’s hiding place.

Prizes for finding the medal include $500, and a backpack from Altra Federal Credit Union.
