Three young German women killed in Sparta crash were exchange students
Still unclear why they were in WI
but accident happened early Sunday night
They were from Germany, the three young women killed in a crash on I-90 near Sparta last week.
Now, we know why they were in the U.S., as Mankato State University has identified them as exchange students.
The three, all in their early 20s, were attending the university just for a semester.
Their car hit a deer on the highway and, when they slowed down, they were rear ended by a semi.
It’s still unclear why they were in Wisconsin, but it was around 7:30 p.m. on a Sunday night when the accident occurred.
Mankato State sent out a campus-wide e-mail Friday, confirming that three exchange students and states they were not traveling on an official trip for the university.
